Learn how FieldTask uses a job's location to control Check-In and track employee work time.

When you assign a job to an employee in FieldTask, the Job Location you select is used as the location for the job's geofence.

The geofenced location is therefore established when the job is created or assigned.

Check In at the Job Location

When the employee arrives at the assigned job location, they can Check In to the job.

If geofenced Check-In is enabled for the employee, they must be within the job's designated location before they can check in.

Once the employee checks in:

  • Timesheet tracking begins.
  • Attendance tracking begins.
  • FieldTask starts recording the employee's work time for the job.

Live Work-Time Tracking

From the moment of Check-In until the employee Checks Out, the FieldTask Mobile App updates the recorded work time to the server.

This allows you to oversee how long your employees spend working on their assigned jobs and provides a live record of their work duration.

📌 Note: Whether an employee must be within the geofenced job location to check in depends on the Check-In permissions configured for that employee. If geofenced Check-In is disabled, the employee can check in from outside the job location.
